Over the past forty years, José Meijer has held various (board) positions at trade union (FNV), government, addiction care and pension sector. José Meijer has been Vice chair of ABP from 2013 till June 2020. ABP is one of the world’s largest pension funds (€ 500 billion under management by APG as their asset manager). During that period she was a member of the investment committee with special attention for ESG. Since 2014 she has been a member of the general board of the Federation of the Dutch Pension Funds (Pensioenfederatie) . On behalf of its members, the Federation of the Dutch Pension funds promotes the further development, maintenance and the provision of a 2nd pillar pension system that is based on high quality and trust. The members of the Federation jointly support these values. They service and act on behalf of millions of active and dormant participants who are the focus of the endeavor of our members. Since April 2020, she has held the acting chairmanship of the Federation of the Dutch Pension Funds. She has taken part in the steering group of the Dutch Responsible Investment Covenant for Pension funds since 2019. Currently she is a member of the FNV pension team and since September 2020 member of the Supervisory Board at APG. José also chairs the Trustee Leadership of the Committee on Workers Capital, part of ITUC. José Meijer studied sociology of organisations and science at Leiden University.
